U.S. Department of Labor Awards More Than $90 Million in Grants

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the awarding of $90,992,062 through two grant programs, Pathway Home and the Young Adult Reentry Partnership (YARP), focused on assisting justice-involved individuals in gaining meaningful employment. U.S. Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia traveled to Boston, Massachusetts, today to make the announcement with Pathway Home grant awardee Volunteers of America of Massachusetts.

DOJ to Fund Research on Juvenile Reoffending

This solicitation seeks proposals for rigorous research projects that improve measurement of juvenile reoffending. NIJ encourages applicants to submit proposals for studies that advance knowledge and understanding of juvenile reoffending and aid jurisdictions and juvenile justice agencies in measuring and using juvenile reoffending data appropriately in their efforts to identify priorities, develop responses, and monitor and assess policies and programs.

Secretary Scalia Discusses Reentry and Reopening in Tennessee

In a roundtable discussion with leadership from grant recipient Knoxville Leadership Foundation and other community representatives, Secretary Scalia discussed effective strategies for supporting re-entry to the workforce of those leaving the criminal justice system. He also visited, with Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-2), the Knoxville Leadership Foundation’s KnoxWorx program, which helps individuals gain valuable training and credentials that lead to jobs.

OJJDP FY 2021 Multistate Mentoring Programs Initiative

This program supports the implementation and delivery of mentoring services to youth populations that are at risk for juvenile delinquency and juvenile justice system involvement. Mentoring services can be one-on-one, group, peer, or a combination of these types. Funding can be used to support new mentoring matches or continue existing mentoring matches at the time of application.

Pathway Home 2: ETA Announces Funding Opportunity

The purpose of this pilot program is to provide eligible, incarcerated individuals in state correctional facilities or local or county jails with workforce services prior to release and to continue services after release by transitioning the participants into reentry programs in the communities to which they will return. These grants are job-driven and build connections to local employers that will enable transitioning offenders to secure employment.

Registered Apprenticeship (RA) Technical Assistance (TA) Centers of Excellence

The RA TA Centers of Excellence will focus on providing technical assistance on a national scale, working to support, expand, and diversify the registered apprenticeship system.
